Description
In 10kV outdoor power distribution networks, replacing conventional surge arresters always requires power outages, which not only impairs power supply reliability for end-users but also significantly increases operation and maintenance costs. Meanwhile, overvoltage caused by lightning strikes and switch operations can easily lead to insulation breakdown of core equipment such as transformers, cable terminations, and pole-mounted switches. The HY5WS-17/50DL-TB 10kV detachable drop-out surge arrester addresses these two critical pain points with its core advantages: maintenance without power interruption, automatic fault isolation, and high-efficiency overvoltage protection.
The arrester adopts a gapless zinc oxide varistor design with nanosecond-level response, low residual voltage, and large current-handling capacity. Under normal operation, the leakage current is only at the microampere level, which does not affect the system’s working conditions. When an overvoltage occurs, the varistors conduct instantaneously, diverting the overvoltage energy to the ground.
